General terms of sale
Updated on
These terms are an English translation provided for information. Only the French version is legally binding.
These terms apply to sales of pieces concluded on this site with consumers, and to advisory services (personal shopping, showroom at home, piece search) booked online. Corporate sales are subject to a quotation, which takes precedence over these terms. Placing an order constitutes acceptance of the version in force on the day of the order.

Each piece’s page describes its essential characteristics: its house, its material, its size, its condition (new, pre-owned, with or without its box) and its price. The photographs are of the piece being sold; colours may vary slightly depending on your screen. Many of our pieces are one of a kind: when you proceed to payment, the piece is reserved for you for 30 minutes; if payment is not completed within that time, it goes back on sale. A piece that has sold in the meantime is flagged in your basket. Our commitments on authenticity appear on the Authenticity page.
Prices are shown in euros, including all taxes. When a pre-owned piece is sold under the margin scheme (article 297 A of the French General Tax Code), the invoice does not show VAT. Delivery costs are added according to the option chosen and are displayed before payment: the total price to pay is always shown to you before you confirm.
If, despite our checks, a displayed price is manifestly wrong (a derisory price, unrelated to the value of the piece), we will write to you without delay: you may confirm the order at the correct price or cancel it, in which case we refund everything you have paid.
To place an order, you must be of legal age and able to enter into a contract. You choose your pieces and your delivery option, check the summary, accept these terms, then pay by clicking “Pay”. The order is concluded once payment has been confirmed; you may correct any input error before that click. You receive a confirmation email with the summary, your invoice, these terms and the withdrawal form. We keep orders for ten years, and you may obtain a copy on request (articles L213-1 and D213-1 of the French Consumer Code).
We may refuse or cancel an order for a legitimate reason: a piece that turns out to be unavailable or damaged when it is being prepared, a payment that the bank does not authorise or that appears fraudulent, a payment dispute in progress on a previous order. We will inform you without delay and refund everything you have paid, within 14 days at the latest, using the payment method used.
We accept payment by bank card, directly or through your phone’s wallet (Google Pay, Apple Pay) when it is offered to you. Payment is processed by Stripe, an authorised payment provider, with your bank’s authentication. Your card is charged when you order. Your card details never reach us. If the payment is declined, the order is not concluded. The piece becomes your property once its price has been paid in full.
See the Delivery page for the options, prices and delivery times. Unless otherwise stated on the order, we deliver no later than 30 days after it is concluded (article L216-1). In the event of a delay, you may ask us in writing to deliver within a reasonable additional period; if delivery has not taken place within that period, you may terminate the contract and be refunded within 14 days (articles L216-1 to L216-7). The risk of loss or damage passes to you when the piece is handed over. On delivery, check the piece and, if it is damaged or missing, note your reservations with the carrier and write to us without delay.
Insured delivery is available to: France.
If the piece cannot be delivered to you (absence, incomplete address, parcel not collected), the carrier keeps it for the time it specifies, then returns it to us. We will then write to you to arrange a new delivery, the shipping costs of which will be given to you before any new dispatch. If we have not heard from you within 30 days, we cancel the order and refund what you have paid, less the shipping and return costs the carrier has charged us.
You have 14 days from receipt to withdraw, without giving any reason and without penalty (articles L221-18 et seq.), and you may do so as soon as the order has been paid. If your order reaches you in several deliveries, the period runs from receipt of the last piece. For a service contract, the period runs from its conclusion. You exercise this right online with “Withdraw from the contract here” (from your account, or from the tracking page with your order number), with the form on the Returns and exchanges page, or by any clear statement sent by email; we acknowledge receipt without delay, on a durable medium (article L221-21). If the last day falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday, the period is extended to the next working day. We refund you within 14 days of your decision, and you send the piece back within 14 days of it: see the Returns and exchanges page for return costs and the condition of the piece.
The right of withdrawal does not apply to a piece made to your specifications or clearly personalised, nor to a service fully performed before the end of the withdrawal period with your prior express consent and your acknowledgement that you lose this right (article L221-28). If you ask for a service to begin before the end of the period, you pay for the part already performed when you withdraw (article L221-25).
All our pieces benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity and the guarantee against hidden defects, the terms of which are set out below (notice required by article D211-2 of the French Consumer Code; translation for information):
The consumer has two years from delivery of the goods to obtain the application of the legal guarantee of conformity if a lack of conformity appears. During this period, the consumer is only required to establish the existence of the lack of conformity, not the date on which it appeared.
Where the contract of sale provides for the supply of digital content or a digital service on a continuous basis for more than two years, the legal guarantee applies to that digital content or digital service throughout the planned period of supply. During this period, the consumer is only required to establish the existence of the lack of conformity affecting the digital content or digital service, not the date on which it appeared.
The legal guarantee of conformity obliges the trader, where applicable, to provide all updates necessary to keep the goods in conformity.
The legal guarantee of conformity entitles the consumer to have the goods repaired or replaced within thirty days of the request, free of charge and without major inconvenience to them.
If the goods are repaired under the legal guarantee of conformity, the consumer benefits from a six-month extension of the initial guarantee.
If the consumer asks for the goods to be repaired but the seller imposes replacement, the legal guarantee of conformity is renewed for a period of two years from the date the goods are replaced.
The consumer may obtain a reduction in the purchase price while keeping the goods, or terminate the contract and be refunded in full on returning the goods, if:
The trader refuses to repair or replace the goods;
The repair or replacement takes place after a period of thirty days;
The repair or replacement causes major inconvenience to the consumer, in particular where the consumer permanently bears the costs of taking back or removing the non-conforming goods, or bears the costs of installing the repaired or replacement goods;
The lack of conformity persists despite the seller’s unsuccessful attempt to bring the goods into conformity.
The consumer is also entitled to a reduction in the price of the goods or to termination of the contract where the lack of conformity is so serious that it justifies an immediate price reduction or termination. The consumer is then not required to request repair or replacement first.
The consumer is not entitled to terminate the sale if the lack of conformity is minor.
Any period during which the goods are out of use for repair or replacement suspends the remaining guarantee until the goods are returned in working order.
The rights mentioned above result from articles L. 217-1 to L. 217-32 of the French Consumer Code.
A seller who obstructs the application of the legal guarantee of conformity in bad faith is liable to a civil fine of up to 300,000 euros, which may be increased to 10% of average annual turnover (article L. 241-5 of the French Consumer Code).
The consumer also benefits from the legal guarantee against hidden defects under articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code, for two years from the discovery of the defect. This guarantee entitles the consumer to a price reduction if the goods are kept, or to a full refund on returning the goods.
For a pre-owned piece, the presumption that the defect already existed (which spares you from proving when it appeared) lasts twelve months from delivery, instead of twenty-four. To invoke these guarantees, write to us using the seller’s details given above (article D211-1); if the piece has to be sent back to us, we will tell you how to return it, and you do not have to insure it or pay for its transport, other than by post (article D217-1).
For any complaint, write to us at contact@graceetcompagnie.fr or through the Contact page: we acknowledge receipt and reply within a reasonable time, no later than one month.
We process your data to fulfil your order, as explained on the Privacy page. You can exercise your rights from your account or the My rights page.
The site’s texts, photographs and visuals are protected: any reproduction without written permission is prohibited, subject to the exceptions provided by law. Buying a piece transfers no rights over this content or over the houses’ trademarks.
We are not liable for a delay or failure to perform caused by an event of force majeure within the meaning of article 1218 of the French Civil Code. You will be informed, and if the impediment is lasting, the order may be terminated under the conditions of that same article: either of us may then end it in writing, and any sums already paid for the part not performed are refunded to you.
These terms are drawn up in French and governed by French law; only the French version is legally binding. In the event of a dispute that neither the complaint nor mediation has resolved, the competent court is determined by the rules of the French Code of Civil Procedure; you may also bring the matter before the court of the place where you lived at the time of the order or when the damage occurred.
